Robert was a young man of 25 years old. He had sandy blonde hair and vivid green eyes, and was of average height and build. On the morning of April 4, 1952, he awoke at 5:00am like every other morning. When the alarm clock rang, his eyes jolted open and he immediately sat up in bed and grabbed the clock from his bed side table. He held the clock up to his eyes and groggily squinted to read the numbers. As Robert dressed for work in the coal mines, he had no idea that the mine he was working in that day would collapse. He tiptoed through the small, quaint house, trying not to disturb his wife who had been up all night with the baby. His efforts were futile, though. His wife walked into the kitchen as Robert was making coffee. "What are you doing up?" he asked her. He was disappointed that he had woken her.
"Wake up, Daddy! Wake up! Wake up! Wake up!" Two little feet bounced dangerously close to his face.
"Come here, little monster!" He was awake now.
