Week 3 Summary

1)How does the concept of "Natives and Immigrants” differs from this week’s readings? What is the main difference? How do you feel about it?

On this point, we talked about the difference between new and more experience teachers.
It seems like more experienced teachers are better at using technology into their classroom. From the readings, time and class management are the two reasons supporting this 2003 writing.
5 years passed since the time this article was written, most of the class agreed that a lot of progress have been made since then and this point of view might have changed a lot. Younger teachers are now exposed to more quality use of technology in their own learning experiences, which increases their confidence in it.

2)"EXAMINING TEACHER TECHNOLOGY USE"The principals gave two reasons why new teachers were not using technologies as much as they should in their classrooms. What are they? Do you agree with the two reasons? Answered in question #1

3)"High Access and Low Use of Technologies in High School Classrooms: Explaining an Apparent Paradox"Can you take position on one of the two concepts? Which one do you believe in the most?- Slow revolution- Context and history

Slow revolution---Be patient everything will be better with time, just like it did with electricity in the 1880s...we started to really use it to it's potential in 1920s. In this way of thinking the use of technology in the classroom will do the same, in about 20 years will use it to it's full potential. The system will change itself.

Context and History---Somebody has to do something to speed up this adaptation to technology in the classroom. This is the go get it attitude. There is a need to change the system.

We talked about these two theories being in fact the same...one waits for other to do the work and the other is the one doing the job for others.

4)According to the two readings, how can we speed up the good use of technologies to our schools?
5)According to you, what can we do to help speed up the good use of technologies to our schools?

Some of the solutions talk in class were to get the leaders (principal and superintendent) to believe in the technology use more than before. That way they will probably have the tendency to provide trainings to new and more experienced teachers/faculties.
